      At the request of James Marr, the following [lease] was recorded this Nov 14, 1726.
      Aug 10, 1725 from James Middleton of CC, planter, to James Marr of CC, planter, the lease of part of that tract of land called Jordan, and now in the possession of sd James Middleton, lying on the west side Zachia Swamp below the old usual road that leads from Portobacco [Cr] to the plantation where John Smith at Jordan now dwells, containing about 50 acres. This is a 20 year lease, commencing from Dec 25 last past. The yearly rent is 640 lbs of tobacco. James Marr will build all buildings at his own cost, and is to plant 60 apple trees whenever sd James Middleton shall require them and where he selects on sd plantation, and to be kept well fenced. Sd James Marr shall keep but 2 working hands, or, if more, to pay 320 lbs of tobacco extra for each hand. James Marr may cut down any timber or timber trees for the use of sd plantation for building, fencing, or tobacco hhds, but. must make no waste of timber.       At the request of Holland Middleton, William Middleton Jr, and Samuel Middleton, the following instrument in writing was recorded on Aug 16, 1748.
      Aug 5, 1748 from William Middleton Sr of CC, to Holland Middleton, Wm Middleton Jr, and Samuel Middleton of Maryland, for and in consideration of sd Holland, William Jr, and Samuel Middleton giving their joint bond to James Middleton and James Keech to indemnify them. James Middleton and James Keech bound themselves with the sd William Middleton Sr to Mr. George Maxwell for the payment of 180 & odd thousand lbs tobacco, to be paid at Benedict Town. This bond has since been removed and taken for 122 thousand some odd lbs tobacco with 2 years interest, to last Jun. Now sd Wm Middleton Sr, for the real security, and to enable Holland Middleton, William Middleton Jr, and Samuel Middleton to discharge the real balance due to Mr. George Maxwell and related charges on the bond to James Middleton and James Keech which Holland, William, and Samuel may be charged with, has sold to Holland, William, and Samuel Middleton, 4 feather beds and furniture, 4 cattle, 2 tables, 1 desk, 6 chairs, 1 iron pot, 1 pair of andirons, 1 spitt, 4 pewter dishes, 10 cullenders, 2 tin pans, 1 iron pestle, 1 spice mill, 1 sugar box, 1 saw, ...books, and all the debts due to sd William Middleton Sr., and all the tobacco money that shall be levied in the next public and county levy. Aug 14, 1752 from James Middleton of CC, planter, to Richard Vincent of CC, for 2280 lbs of tobacco, during the terms mentioned in a lease from the late Lord Baltimore his agents to James Middleton dated Dec 25, 1739, called Middletons and Askins Progress, part of the sd tract, containing and laid out for 24 acres. Feb 8, 1758 from James Middleton and Sarah, his wife, of CC, to Smith Middleton and Ignatious Middleton, their sons, for the natural love they have for their sd sons and for divers other good causes, to wit, 100 £ sterling, part of a tract of land in CC and now in possession of sd James and Sarah, called Jordan. That is to say, to sd Ignatius, his part thereof (after the death of sd James and Sarah) beginning on Jordan Branch [Swamp] where the old Coach Road crosses the sd Branch, which is the Road that comes from the new bridges to John Smith of Jordan plantation where he now lives, so up with the small branch that runs through the corn field, to the head of the sd branch & then with a west course to the Mill branch, then with sd mill branch to the west side till it comes to the road that goes from the new bridges to Edward Jenkins & so with sd road till it comes to the back line, then with sd line to Samuel Baggett's line, so with sd line to Jordan branch, then with sd branch to the beginning. And sd Smith Middleton, all the rest of their part of sd tract of land. Whereas sd James and Sarah intend, by these presents, that each of their sd sons shall have as near as may be, an equal part of sd land, if it happens that the courses mentioned, if Ignatious' part fall short or exceed more than one half, whoever has the larger part, the overplus is to be valued by two honest men, one to be appointed by each son, & one half the value is to be paid by our son who has the larger part to the son with the smaller part.
