Section I – Award of Bronze Star Medal By Direction of the President, under provisions of A.R.600-45 22 September 1943, as amended, the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to:
Staff Sergeant Hyrum Grant Weech 20924512 Medical Department, Medical detachment, 965th Field Artillery Battalion, for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy on 14th February 1945 in the vicinity of Hurtgen, Germany. When several men were wounded and trapped in an enemy minefield, Sergeant Weech volunteered to enter the field and administer medical aid. Remaining with the wounded men for six hours, Sergeant Weech rendered aid and directed the evacuation of all men after the medical officer was evacuated. His great courage and devotion to duty were in the highest traditions of the military service. Entered military service from Utah.
