[93] June 25, Wednesday, Oldham

Breakfast with Bro. Eckersley, wrote a little in my journal. He instructed me a little in my writing, etc. Accompanied me to Oldham. Dinner with Mother Ashworth, tea with Edward Gledhill.

Meeting at 7:30 p.m. A goodly number present. I occupied about 35 minutes. Brethren & sisters bore testimony and meeting closed. Supper, lodgings with Father Cocker.

June 26, Thursday, Clayton

Breakfast with Father Cocker, dinner with Bro. James Gledhill, tea with Sister Ashman. Bro. Ashman desired to have about 5 hours talk with me, so his boy went with me to Clayton in order to come back with me, but on arriving in Clayton, [I] found out the spirit of the thing and declined to go. Meeting at 8 p.m. A good number present [94] and had a good time, meeting closed. The boy went home with Bro. Heaton. How the matter would pass off with Bro. Ashman, don't know, but I have no desire to give any offense. Supper and lodgings with Bro. Wm. Lee.

June 27, Friday, 123

Breakfast at Bro. Lee's, and walk[ed] down to Manchester. Found Bro. Kay writing. Made out parcels and took them to their several places. He give me instruction about Bro. Ashman when I had told him about the matter. Told me when difficulties and grievances was brought before me to settle to say that. Bro. Kay had counseled me not to enter into them. This I quite agreed to. He filled me another of my teeth. Walk[ed] together to Peel Park, where I left him for home. Had a good talk with Father about coming into the church again.
