[91] that Bro. Wardles lived in, of the name Boardman. Posted a letter to Bro. Fogg Kersley (?). Also same day posted one with two stars to Thomas Rushton, Africa.
Walked to Ashton, called to see Bro. Lethers where I rested, informing them that there would be a district meeting in this place July 6th. Arrived at Bro. Connel's and slept.
June 22nd, Sunday, Hyde
Breakfast [with] Bro. Connell & dinner. Looking over my phonic writing, he said that a grammar would be more useful. Meeting afternoon. A goodly number present. Tea with Sis. Scholes.
Evening meeting. Spoke about 45 minutes to them. Bro. Connell spoke a little, meeting closed. Lodgings with Bro. Joseph Gee, where I had a comfortable night upon a sofa (?).
June 23, Monday, Ashton
Breakfast with Bro. Gee. We had a walk round the fields, come into Duckenfield. Bro. Wild [92] invited me the day before to come have dinner with him. Stayed at Bro. Wild's, read some pages from the book of Persecution, wrote by Bro. Parley while in prison.
Dinner with him. He has been afflicted for nearly two years, but at present is recovering. Went to Bro. Connell's, door was fast. Tea with Sis. Clough. Come to Ashton, supper at Bro. Lee's. Lodgings with Bro. Hardy.
June 24, Tuesday, Middleton
Breakfast with Bro. Hardy, made my way across the fields a distance of 9 or 10 miles to Middleton, having had dinner with Bro. Samuel Booth. Arrived a little before 6 and had tea with Bro. Wood.
By 8 o'clock the brethren came together and decided to go & preach at a village called Hebers near Middleton. We went, had a good congregation of grown up persons when I addressed them upon the first principles of the gospel. Supper and lodgings with Bro. Eckersley.
