[71] May 26, Monday, Mosley
Breakfast at Bro. Buckley's. Spent forenoon in reading, etc. I resumed to stay here all day even as Bro. Buckley desires me so to do as he had to get "Book money" for me. As it comes nearer noon a woman ??? comes in bustling all about the house getting a dinner for some one. Everyone was at work so I was left in myself alone. She told me to help and get a dinner. With the request I complied, having dinner at Buckleys.
In the afternoon wrote to our family and to Thomas Heelis. Tea with this friend who had so kindly got ready my dinner. She told me she was being baptized this week. Spent evening in singing, music, etc. Supper & retired.
May 27, Tuesday
Rose by 5:36 a.m. All with the exception of one of their wives was up so early, and I did not want to be in the room with her [72] when there was no man but myself left. Accordingly, I got up when they did. There are kind of Trails and Temptations two [too?], which must be overcome. Breakfast with Buckleys. Found my way from Mosely to Ashton, got the report from Bro. Lether. It was a very wet morning. My clothes upon me was very damp, but I could not help it. Went down from Lethers' to Bro. Shaw, give him the receipt of £2.00 which he had given me to get exchanged but could not do it.
Went to Bro. Connell in Duckenfield. Reports was not ready so I could not go to Stockport as I desired. Had dinner at Bro. Morton's, returned to Connells, waited until he came home. We then made out reports, went to Ashton together, and had meeting. A goodly number was present. Spoke to them for some time. Felt well with them. Meeting closed.
Bro. Samuel Booth give me a [symbol]. I was very thankful to him so that it give me a chance to ride to Stockport if I choosed [sic].
The Saints was going to Marple and desired one to go with them. Supper with Bro. Aaron hardy & lodgings.
