[69] about myself and new (?) I was in the world and on the world although I cared not for a dinner I could have done without as well as with, but Bro. Wood's wife said as long as they had a crust of bread I must share with them. I felt a little tenderhearted when they has telling me not to be bashful, but felt pretty good under what they said.

Arrived at Oldham by 2:35 p.m. I met Bro. Kay according to promise. He spoke to them very spiritedly upon the gathering of the Saints and that hundreds would yet be gathered from Oldham. Brethren bore testimony. Evening meeting: Bro. Buckley spoke upon the good principles of the gospel, showing how those out of the church enjoyed a portion of the spirit of truth. Otherwise, they would not be led in the way of truth, for the Spirit of God leadeth men & women in the ways of all saving truth. Therefore if they did not enjoy a portion of the Spirit of Truth, they would [70] not be in the way of truth.

Bro. Kay then gave expression to his feelings, said I arise to speak to you for a short time although I feel my own weakness of body. Bro. Buckley dropped a remark and said "This kingdom has not been built up by man, that is true. It has not been built up by man but by God. Poor, illiterate men have been God's instruments to do the work. Showed how the kingdom has been rejected and persecuted from Missouri, Illinois, Nauvoo and north and south army sent to destroy them, but still the little stone representing the kingdom continues to grow and will grow whether they admit us into the Union or not. And who cares? It is not my business to care. God is at the helm and he will lead his kingdom," & many other interesting remarks flowed from his lips which the Saints seemed to appreciate as a sweet morsel. Meeting closed with prayer. I accompanied Bro. Buckley to Mosley, although very ill tired, we made out the report, got supper and went to bed.
