[61] May 19, Monday, Bury

Breakfast with Bro. Witworth and had a walk with 2 young men of the family over Bradshaw Hill. Returned from our tour up the hills. I was invited to dinner with Sister Duckworth. According to request, I went. They had some rather peculiar news to tell me. Sis. Mary Ann Worrell was infested with her mother's spirit. She was sent for out of the mill but could not come. ??? with Bro. Entwistle.

At evening I was again sent for, but determined to have nothing to do with the concern. I took with me Bro. Entwistle, but the subject came no further on the carpet then that she was troubled with spirits from the eternal world. It was stopped at that.

Bro. Entwistle, me and Bro. Schofield of Radcliffe had a walk through the town. Returned, supper with Bro. Entwistle. Slept with Witworths.

[62] May 20, Tuesday, Bolton

Breakfast with Witworths. Pursued my journey in company with two Bros. Witworths. Went with me a long way. We parted after a little rest upon the grass.

I found my way to Bolton, a distance of 6 miles. Dinner with Elder Joseph Booth and a long talk together about American affairs.

Passed [the] afternoon with sisters Heelis in writing a letter to Thomas Rushton, who is now in Africa, one also to Bro. Kay. Tea with them.

Attending meeting at half past eleven (seven?). A goodly number was present. I spoke some length of time to them. Supper and lodgings with Sisters Howarth in Hallewell.

May 21, Wednesday, Radcliffe

Breakfast with Howarths, and reading a short time. Visited another sister in
