April 7, Leigh

Breakfast with Bro. Wm. Morts, and had a little dinner with them. Moved on, in company with Sarah to Leigh, she being my pilot as I was not any acquainted with the road. I managed to find my way to Bro. Walsh, who was the President of the Branch. He received and trated me very kindly. I visited as many of the Brethren and Saints as I could, had tea with Bro. Enos Rays. Bro. Walsh procured my lodgings, at a very respectable place. Evening came and I returned to the Prest. of the Branch, company together to my house, when him and the family fell in discussion together. After his departure it fell to my lot to speak a little to them, and I felt to avail my [16] self of the opportunity. Spoke to them concerning the restoration of the gospel as it is believed by the Saints of the Gathering, and prophecy of the prophet of the nineteenth century. A good spirit prevailed.

April 8th, Worsley

Had breakfast with Bro. Walsh, his wife being very sick, he desired me to administer to her and lay on hands. I parted with his blessing. Called upon Bro. Enos Ray, who accompanied me some distance on my journey.

Had my dinner with Bro. Greenhalgh, and went about the appointed 3 p.m. to Bro. George. Parting ten (???), had tea with him, we was company together, on our way to Bro. James Atkinson, where there was being a meeting, at half past seven had a very good time together. The spirit of the
