[7] Arrived at Oldham, took dinner with Sister Ashworth's in Beck Grove Street.

At the meeting by half past two when quite a number of Saints and strangers was present. After the sacrament was administered President Kay arose and give some good instruction concerning the sacrament, desired the Saints should feel free and have good feelings towards each other, heal each others' weaknesses, strengthen each other['s] infirmities, and the Lord will bless you.

Some of the Brethren bore their testimony to the truth and desired to do more good. The meeting closed with prayer from Prest. Kay. Had tea together at Brother Gledhill's, attended meeting at 6 p.m. [8] Opened by singing, prayer from Elder Kay. He desired me to speak a short time. Exhorted the Saints to diligence in keeping the commandments of God, and those who where emigrating, for them to get within them the good spirit that they might have patience to overcome every evil that might beset there hath [???]. President Kay occupied the remaining portion of the time, taught the good principles of the gospel while a good and kind spirit prevailed the whole assembly. Singing and closed with prayer from myself. We went to see Gledhill's family as there were 4 going from their house this summer to the Valley, he give them instruction about the journey, the country, etc., and retired to our lodgings where I had a little supper with Sister Ashworths. Bro. Kay slept with Bro. Cocker.
