S. in 1876 and was naturalized in 1881. He does not read or write English, but he speaks it. He speaks German as his native language. He was born in West Prussia of parents who were also born in West Prussia. Gust is a farmer working in the are of general farming. He works on his own account. He lives with his wife, Clara, and four children (Herman, Ralph, Ethel, Harry) in Cleveland Township, Jackson County, Wisconsin. [GJ 03.]
             In the 1930 U. S. Federal Census, Herman is a 53 year old, white married male. He is married to Clara E. Lange. He was first married at the age of 26 years of age. He owns his own farm. He does not read or write English, but speaks it; German is his native language. He was born in Germany of parents who were also born in Germany. According to the record, he entered the U. S. in 1879 and is a naturalized citizen. He is a farmer by occupation, one that works in general farming, in the owner class. He was at work at the time of the census. He has not been a member of any U. S. military organization. [GJ 04.]
             In the 1940 U. S. Federal Census, Gustav Jankowsky is a 62 year old, white married male. He has not attended school or college any time since March 1, 1940, but he did complete the 7th school grade. He was born in Germany and is a naturalized citizen. Gustav has lived in the same house in 1935. His residence is on a farm. He was at work during the week of 24-30 March 1940. He works 40 hours a week, 52 weeks in the year at his farm in 1939. He is considered an employer. Gustav has income from sources other than his farm, which he owns. Gustav lives with his wife, Clara E.
