  Notes	From Merritt Nielson: William Michael Betts had two wives, Ann Oates and Sarah Ann Weech or Weach. William Michael founded Betts Spring Co. in 1868. His father, Peter Betts came to St. Louis, Mo. ahead of his family to earn travel money for his family to come over from England. When the family finally arrived, he was ill and died in 1853. The family traveled on to Utah. William Michael and his brother Peter M. went back to England to train further in coach spring making; to Sheffield. By 1868 they founded their company near San Francisco. Peter M. went south to the Los Angeles area to become a farmer at some point.
