    Notes
    • According to descendant Don Rolfson, Francis came to the US about 1860 via New Orleans.

"I have been transcribing my Dad's journals and he mentioned that after
his mission he visited some relatives of Francis Thor Rolfson in
Lincoln, Nebraska. Dad told me a story related by his Grandpa Francis.
Francis Thor said he and his two brothers came to America around
1860 in a sailing ship. They landed in New Orleans and were inducted
into the Confederate Army. They didn't want to fight and went AWOL
ending up in St. Louis and changed there names to Wilson. When Francis
Thor Rolfsen married Ester Ann Pulley he changed his name back to
Rolfson substituting the "sen" for "son" but his brother kept their new
names of George Wilson and James Wilson. I assume this story has some
truth and it does make for interesting conversation. I don't know
which sons of Bent Rolfsen and Gjertrud Maria Wroldsen they were, but
suspect it might have been Vrold and Bent Rolfson; however the death
      dates do not match."
