Feb 8, 1758 from James Middleton and Sarah, his wife, of CC, to Smith Middleton and Ignatious Middleton, their sons, for the natural love they have for their sd sons and for divers other good causes, to wit, 100 £ sterling, part of a tract of land in CC and now in possession of sd James and Sarah, called Jordan. That is to say, to sd Ignatius, his part thereof (after the death of sd James and Sarah) beginning on Jordan Branch [Swamp] where the old Coach Road crosses the sd Branch, which is the Road that comes from the new bridges to John Smith of Jordan plantation where he now lives, so up with the small branch that runs through the corn field, to the head of the sd branch & then with a west course to the Mill branch, then with sd mill branch to the west side till it comes to the road that goes from the new bridges to Edward Jenkins & so with sd road till it comes to the back line, then with sd line to Samuel Baggett's line, so with sd line to Jordan branch, then with sd branch to the beginning. And sd Smith Middleton, all the rest of their part of sd tract of land. Whereas sd James and Sarah intend, by these presents, that each of their sd sons shall have as near as may be, an equal part of sd land, if it happens that the courses mentioned, if Ignatious' part fall short or exceed more than one half, whoever has the larger part, the overplus is to be valued by two honest men, one to be appointed by each son, & one half the value is to be paid by our son who has the larger part to the son with the smaller part.
